Tondini Altamura da Serbo

Ez az egyik legérdekesebb fajtám az olasz tájspecifikus fajtáim közül, a neve ’Tondini Altamura da Serbo’, ez röviden azt jelenti, hogy „Altamurai kicsi hosszantárolós”. A fajta ugyan nem szerepel a 2020-as tanulmányban, de az összes közeli rokonát bemutatják. A fajta féldeterminált, magassága maximum 120cm, nagyon hosszú fürtöket hoz, akár 40-60 centiseket is, amiken közel egyszerre érnek be a paradicsomok. A növény kevés, nagy levelet hozott, a kezdeti lendületes növekedést egy ponton feladta és csak fürtöket hozott. Egy nagyobb és egy kisebb terméshulláma van. Ha valaki télre szeretne elrakni a terméseiből, akkor csak május végén ültesse ki a palántákat, mert kb 80 napos, korai fajta.
A fajta kifejezetten aszályos, száraz helyre való, az öntözést kifejezetten nem díjazta, miután megvontam a vizet még sokáig termett és a termései eltarthatóképessége is javult.
Íze kiváló, a messze legjobb ebben a kategóriában, brixe 5 körüli.

This is one of the most interesting varieties among my Italian regional types: ‘Tondini Altamura da Serbo’, which roughly translates as “small long-storage Altamura tomato.” While this variety does not appear in the 2020 study, all of its close relatives are included. The study is titled Mediterranean Long Shelf-Life Landraces: An Untapped Genetic Resource for Tomato Improvement, DOI:10.3389/fpls.2019.01651. I will refer to this study again, as I also work with it here at home.

The variety is semi-determinate, growing to a maximum height of 120 cm, and produces very long trusses, sometimes 40–60 cm in length, with fruits ripening almost simultaneously. The plant produces few large leaves and, after an initial vigorous growth, focused primarily on setting trusses. There are typically one larger and one smaller fruit wave. For winter storage, seedlings should only be planted at the end of May, as it is an early variety with about 80 days to maturity.

This variety is especially suited to dry, arid conditions. It does not favor irrigation; once water was withheld, it continued to produce for a long time, and the shelf life of its fruits improved.

The flavor is excellent—the best in this category—with a brix of around 5.
