A fajta egyik szülője egy afrikai nematoda, bakteriális gyűrűsrothadás és hőstressz ellenálló fajta.
A termései 80-100 grammosak, egyöntetűen néznek ki, zöldes sárgából érnek világosabb okkersárgába. Az ízük nagyon jó, édes, gyümölcsösen karakteres, hasonlít a Bayou Moon-éhoz.
Bayou Sun is a creation by Bunny Hop, and the sibling of Bayou Moon and Black Bayou.
It grows to about 140 cm and is semi-determinate (although the breeder’s website lists it as indeterminate, it is not). One of its parents is an African variety with resistance to nematodes, bacterial wilt, and heat stress.
The fruits weigh 80–100 grams and are very uniform in appearance. They ripen from greenish-yellow to a lighter ochre-yellow. The flavor is excellent sweet, fruity, and distinctive, similar to Bayou Moon.
