Az egyik legjobb történetű fajta az Auntie Madge’s Plum Multiflora. A törtönete: „Kiderült, hogy ez a fajta a radfordi tanyaház fallal körülvett kertjéből származik. Auntie Madge, aki 1898-ban született, Sam nagynénje volt, és 1984-ig élt a tanyaházban. Gyakran lehetett látni, amint a lábát az aga sütőbe dugja, körülötte pedig az összes fehér macskája. Mivel senki sem ismerte a fajtát, Sam anyja elvitte a paradicsommagot tesztelésre, és meglepetésére egy ismeretlen paradicsomfajtát találtak! A fajta folytonnövő, hatalmas, akár 2 kilót is termő fürtökkel. A termései 30-40 grammosak, nagyon édesek, 6 feletti brixet is mértünk!
One of the best-story varieties is Auntie Madge’s Plum Multiflora. The story goes: “It was discovered that this variety originated in the walled garden of the farmhouse in Radford. Auntie Madge, born in 1898, was Sam’s great-aunt and lived in the farmhouse until 1984. She was often seen with her feet in the aga stove, surrounded by all her white cats. Since no one knew the variety, Sam’s mother had the tomato seeds tested, and to their surprise, they found an unknown tomato! From that day, it was officially named Auntie Madge’s tomato. Isn’t that sweet?”
I’m fascinated that such multifloras have existed for so long, yet never really spread widely!
The plant is indeterminate and massive, producing clusters that can weigh up to 2 kilograms. The fruits weigh 30–40 grams, are very sweet, and we measured a Brix of over 6.
